Kids Aikijujutsu

KatieHthrowing.jpg

This dynamic program is geared for children ages 6 to 15 and teaches the martial arts fundamentals common to jujutsu, aikijutsu, judo and karate.  While the program teaches a true 13th generation Japanese Samurai combat system, the techniques have been modified and/or limited to be appropriate for children.  The class combines principles of two systems: Juko Ryu Jujutsu and Dai Yoshin Ryu Aikijutsu, as learned by Sensei Newton.  A student will begin by learning to roll and fall and, thereafter, how to utilize off-balancing techniques and throws to overcome the attacking force of others.  In addition, he or she will learn defensive punch, block and kick fundamentals.  Advanced students will learn to use the “bokken” (wooden practice sword) and the “jo” (mid-length wooden staff) as weapons.

The class is taught along with traditional martial arts etiquette with an emphasis on development of character, honor and self-discipline.  Ranks are awarded based upon ability, attitude and attendance.

Adult Aikijujutsu

The Adult Aikijujutsu/Jujutsu program is open to teens, ages 16 and up, and adult students.  The class is fast paced and includes very effective offensive and defensive techniques, joint locks and dynamic throws.  It is taught as a total combat system.  Those of you interested in aikido, judo or karate, should give this a try.  It develops real self defense skill from practice with real partners from realistic situations.  At the point of contact with an attacker, the skilled practitioner should be able to have the attacker off-balance or in pain ---- or, better yet, both!  The techniques can be applied in a range from soft to brutal if ever needed, to fit what is appropriate in that circumstance.  Rank is awarded based on ability, attitude and attendance.

Karate

Kempo Jutsu (or Kempo Karate) is a no-nonsense style of karate with its roots in the Japanese and Okinawan systems of old.   It teaches the punch-kick system in a way that is truly effective for combat applications, and does so in a way that this system of karate blends well, and can be integrated into our jujutsu system.   Expect a fast moving class that will challenge both beginners and advanced students alike.   Have a great workout, have fun and, just as importantly, learn a great martial art for self-defense.
